Dumnida Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture, National Food Promotion Board was established under the Act No. 15 of 1973 to realize the prime goal of establishing an economically independent nation while alleviating the culture of dependency by incorporating the sustainable development which achieves through a green revolution.

Nourishing a nation with hygienic food products
Sri Lanka, once renowned as the granary of Asia for the past years, is now more reliant on imported food or junk foods which are not hygienic and nutritious. With the prime goal of building up a healthy nation while establishing economic independence among the locals, NFPB undertakes a national service by introducing and promoting novel nutritious food items made from cereals.
